There are various excursions on each of the lakes that are worth a look such as the steam cruise on Lake Como and visits to the stunning gardens on shores of the lakes.  If you like historic towns and villages then take a drive through the mountains as they are riddled with beautiful little towns. Shopping in the Area There are plenty of little shops that are unique to the area. Weekly outdoor markets are popular and have plenty of nice items to look through including jewellery, leather and ceramics. Paintings are also a common purchase from these markets as there are some great galleries to browse.

The towns in the Lake District have plenty of dining options that suit all tastes. The most common eating establishments are the restaurants an pizzerias however be sure to check the price on the menus before entering to assure they are within your budget.
